You will:• build technical skills with photographic and video cameras• access a world-class photographic studio• learn to use software tools for cataloguing, editing, processing and storing images• experiment with manipulating and enhancing images• develop your own personal visual style• practise meeting client briefs• learn a range of photo and video techniques for use in advertising, editorials, portraiture, still-life, architecture, fashion and illustration. You’ll also undertake an invaluable industry placement.Where could it take you? You could shoot for local businesses, fashion magazines or big brands. You might travel the world on nature photography assignments. Perhaps you’ll produce video content for government agencies, make indie documentaries or publish visual essays.Popular Music - SATAC code 334071Tune in to the present. Popular music has wide appeal in society. Those working in the music and media industries understand how dynamic, influential and exhilarating it can be. Our Bachelor of Media (Popular Music) focuses on the presence and production of music in pop culture.The popular music specialisation gives you the skills and knowledge to succeed in today’s fast-paced music and media environments. You will:• explore cutting-edge digital technologies used in music production• build a unique digital identity, presence and composition style• access up-to-the minute research in contemporary music history and analysis• develop extensive music and media literacy.You’ll also undertake an invaluable industry placement.Where could it take you? Sound is an often overlooked yet crucial part of media production. Can you imagine your favourite film without the swelling soundtrack? Do you think you’d have as much fun gaming if there was nothing coming through your headphones? Our Bachelor of Media (Sonic Arts) focuses on the strategic use of sound in media.The Sonic Arts specialisation gives you the skills and knowledge to express creative ideas through sound. You will:• examine sound’s history and development in film, television and games• learn to record, mix, produce and master in sound engineering and technical studies• experiment with interactive design, digital media, computer music composition, studio recording and live performance• explore the psychological and aesthetic effects of sound.You’ll also undertake an invaluable industry placement.Where could it take you? You could work as a foley artist, creating sound effects and enhancing the overall experience of films in post-production. You might make soundtracks and voiceovers for adventure video games. Entry requirements
For those who are based in Adelaide, we will be offering a blended delivery mode that combines face-to-face with remote learning in as many courses as possible, taking into consideration social distancing and hygiene. All lectures will continue to be delivered online for the remainder of the year, with some exceptions.
For our students who are studying offshore for the remainder of the 2020 Academic Year, the University will continue to offer high-quality access to the learning resources remotely. This includes all lectures, tutorials and other support material. Students will be advised in advance if there are course components that cannot be provided in remote mode and, wherever possible, offered alternative courses.

Industry Placement
All Bachelor of Media students have the opportunity to take part in a media industry placement through the elective course Media Industry Transitions. This path is highly recommended for those who wish to enter the industry directly after completion of their undergraduate degree.
The placement allows students to gain meaningful work experience by contributing toward a host organisation project. Students are given the opportunity to negotiate their own placements with organisations of their choice, after discussion with the Convenor of Media Industry Transitions. The student needs to ensure that their industry placement does not clash with their other courses.
