Graduate Certificate in International Addiction Studies

Our Graduate Certificate in International Addiction Studies is a unique online program.

It provides a broad understanding of drug addiction and deep insights into international research in the field.

The proposed program is nested within the existing Master of Science in Addiction Studies which has been taught since 2008 and is jointly offered with Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU, USA) and King’s College London (KCL, UK). Assessment

We use formative and summative assessment tools: - Formative assessments: for example, non-graded assignments or online self-assessment quizzes that can help students check their understanding and progress. - Summative assessments:  include assignments, essays, discussion board contributions, presentations and supervised exams. These assessments are specifically linked to the course objectives, such as improving academic writing and critical appraisal skills, checking knowledge and understanding, and developing skills in interpreting research findings and using them to improve practise. The assessments provide students with opportunity to train their academic writing skills, skills in collaborative working, critical appraisal and testing their knowledge base.

For those who are based in Adelaide, we will be offering a blended delivery mode that combines face-to-face with remote learning in as many courses as possible, taking into consideration social distancing and hygiene. All lectures will continue to be delivered online for the remainder of the year, with some exceptions.

For our students who are studying offshore for the remainder of the 2020 Academic Year, the University will continue to offer high-quality access to the learning resources remotely. This includes all lectures, tutorials and other support material. Students will be advised in advance if there are course components that cannot be provided in remote mode and, wherever possible, offered alternative courses.
