About

The Bachelor of Global Studies (Sustainability) is a unique interdisciplinary degree which equips students with a capacity to formulate solutions to the challenges of globalisation and the development of sustainable communities.

The structure of the program follows world megatrends, reflected in the interconnectivity and interplay within diverse fields of study:

climate change, sustainable development, global health and disease, international institutions and transnational business.

The program also aims to prepare students for fronting increased human security threats through sustained transnational collaboration.

The global dialogue needed for the security of globalised communities requires competencies in International Relations, diplomacy and intercultural partnership.

The Bachelor of Global Studies (Sustainability) develops an active global citizen with knowledge and skills enabling them to contribute to the development of sustainable societies of the future.

Depending on individual interests and needs, students can choose a major which develops the knowledge gained in the twelve compulsory subjects.

The following Majors afford students an opportunity to progress in specialised fields of their choice:

Australian Studies, Digital Media, Language and Culture (French, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese) and Global Business

The Bachelor of Global Studies (Sustainability) program comprises 24 subjects, as follows:

Electives (4)

Students can choose 4 subjects from the list of available undergraduate subjects from across the University.

Domestic students

Most students undertake four (4) subjects per semester (equivalent to 40 credit points). You may however enrol in fewer subjects and extend your degree over a longer period.

Teaching methodology

Bond University’s teaching methodology involves a combination of lectures, tutorials, seminars, examinations, projects, presentations, assignments, computer labs and industry projects.

2021 Year 12 Entry

To ensure students are not disadvantaged by the COVID-19 pandemic, current Year 12 students can be assessed now for a guaranteed offer for 2021 entry conditional on the completion of Year 12. Applications will be assessed based on their first semester Year 12 results and meeting any subject prerequisite requirements for their program. Find out more.

Learning outcomes

Graduates of this program will have an increased understanding of critical sustainability issues in the global and local contexts. They will have cognitive skills to identify, analyse and synthesise knowledge relating to different causes and possible solutions of global sustainability challenges. Graduates could expect to find employment in the following fields: Community Development, Foreign Agricultural and Fisheries, Environmental Impact Assessment, Ethical Supply Chain Management, Diplomacy and Trade.
