are a clinical thinker, innovator and not afraid to back your ideas with clearly researched and articulated arguments, then this one-year honours degree is your chance to get noticed.The Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) course is designed to expand your nursing knowledge and encourage you to use quantifiable research and fact-based evidence to develop new, more effective nursing practice solutions.In preparation for this research project, you’ll undertake two coursework units which will give you a solid foundation of research theory and practice, before choosing a topic of interest to explore.Once selected, you’ll investigate a real-world clinical nursing issue using evidence-based inquiry, a literature review and a research plan, before collecting the data, analysing it and then interpreting your results - before presenting your argument and ideas in thesis form.If you’re keen to continue down the nursing postgraduate study path, this course offers an excellent foundation for UC’s Master of Nursing (Research) and the Professional Doctorate in Nurse Practitioner (Research) degrees.As part of your thesis, you’ll be encouraged to identify a real-life clinical problem in nursing and undertake project-specific research to develop a more pro-active effective, user-friendly and ethically compliant solution.You’ll also work closely with and alongside many of UC’s nursing specialists’ and industry leaders who will help inspire, mentor and guide your work along the way.During this course you’ll also be invited to take part in seminars, workshops and conferences run by the Faculty of Health, to collectively disseminate cutting-edge research and collaboratively develop innovative approaches to complex challenges in the health sector.As an Australian Registered Nurse with an honours degree you’ll have the necessary qualifications to pursue a nursing career in any direction of your choice including:Applicants must have a completed Bachelor of Nursing with a Credit, or higher average, to be considered for this course.An Honours Supplementary Application form must be completed, which can be found at:

Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) (24 credit points) Required - Must pass 6 credit points as follows
  • 6486 - Research Planning PG - 3 cp, Level P 8580 - Epidemiology and Principles of Research - 3 cp, Level 3
Restricted Choice - Must pass 18 credit points from the following
  • Full Time Enrolment - Select the following units 6993 - Nursing Honours Thesis FT: Part A - 6 cp, Level H 6995 - Nursing Honours Thesis FT: Part B - 12 cp, Level H
  • Part Time Enrolment - Select the following units 6994 - Nursing Honours Thesis PT: Part A - 6 cp, Level H 7372 - Nursing Honours Thesis PT: Part B 12cp (6cp) - 12 cp, Level H
