*** This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to become designers and developers within the creative industries by allowing them to specialise in Web Development and Design or New Media Design.

Additional elective units of study from related areas in Communication Design or Contemporary Music are also encouraged.

The course focuses on high-end technologies, software and theories to enable students to become multi-skilled professionals and creative graduates in areas such as animation, video production, communication, interactive design, graphic design, digital media, film, television, gaming, music, sound and web design.

The Bachelor of Creative Arts and Industries (New Media Design) is part of a suite of professional creative courses for the cultural industries available through Charles Darwin University which enables students to also take suites of study from the creative study options in Music, Visual Arts and Communications.

Within each of these discipline pathways, there are alternative study plans that allow a student to explore a particular strength.

Opportunities to develop and apply creative industries skills and knowledge are facilitated by an emphasis on seeking solutions for a range of real-world projects and challenges.

Entry requirements

Admission requirements are met by one of the following: Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60*. Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate IV level or higher. Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma. Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications. Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 135 (or a score of 145 if prior to May 2010). Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course. Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience. * After any applicable adjustment factors have been applied.
