The Bachelor of Accounting/Diploma of Laws is a unique course that prepares you to qualify as an accountant and teaches you about the legal issues affecting accounting practices.
The course is an opportunity to gain two qualifications in three years (if you study full time) and expand your career prospects as a more sought-after accountant in the corporate world.
The Bachelor of Accounting will give you the employment and professional skills you need in a rapidly changing business environment.
You will learn about financial accounting, management accounting, auditing, taxation, business law, corporate law, and finance.
The course also develops your communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
The Diploma of Laws is designed to give you an understanding of the law, without committing to a full law degree.
You will gain a broad understanding of how the legal system and legal processes impact corporate accounting.
During the course, you will choose from a range of specialist units in law, so you can tailor your studies to suit your accounting interests and career goals.
On completing the diploma, you can apply to study a Bachelor of Laws and transfer credits for the units you have completed, so you can finish your degree faster.
Structure
Common Units(2 units) - 20
Common units totalling 20 credit points as detailed below. CUC107 Cultural Intelligence and Capability (compulsory) Plus either: CUC100 Academic Literacies Through Exploring Sustainability (new title from 2016), or CUC106 Design and Innovation: Communicating Technology Select Common Units to find out more about individual units and advanced standing options.

Entry requirements
Admission requirements are met by one of the following: Successful completion of the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (or equivalent) and the awarding of an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of at least 60*. Successful completion of a national qualification at Certificate IV level or higher. Successful completion of at least 0.5 year of full-time study (or equivalent) of a higher education degree/diploma. Overseas secondary or tertiary qualifications considered equivalent to the above Australian qualifications. Attainment of a STAT Multiple Choice score of 135 (or a score of 145 if prior to May 2010). Successful completion of the Tertiary Enabling Program, the Preparation for Tertiary Success courses, or other recognised tertiary preparation course. Submission of an acceptable personal competencies statement and/or employment experience. * After any applicable adjustment factors have been applied.
