This course will provide you with the key principles of creative therapies including art, play, dance, drama and music.

It will help you to work with a diverse range of clients, from people who have experienced traumas to members of Aboriginal and cross-cultural communities.

The course blends Western approaches with Aboriginal healing practices and knowledges.

It is designed for you if you're working in health, community, justice, education, and related fields, or if you work in Aboriginal and cross-cultural communities.

The course also offers an entry point to higher education.

Structure

Core Units(4 units) - 40cp

Compulsory Core units totalling 60 credit points as per the list of units detailed below: SWK556 Trauma Informed Practice SWK571 Creative Therapy: Principles and Practices SWK573 Creative Ways of Working with Diverse Groups (available from 2021) SWK574 Creative Ways of Working with Trauma (available from 2021)

Entry requirements

Successful completion of a recognised bachelor or higher degree. You'll be considered for entry to the course if you have at least three years of appropriate experience working with, or living in, Aboriginal Communities. You may be asked to provide a curriculum vitae.
