About
The Graduate Certificate in Creative and Professional Practice (Major) is aimed primarily at current and future arts management and community arts professionals, creative and performing arts practitioners and others in the creative arts industries, to enable you to extend your capacity to operate professionally and/or artistically in the creative industries in professional and/or creative roles, as well as to progress to further postgraduate study.
In order to gain advanced theoretical and technical knowledge, and advanced cognitive, technical and communication skills, you will choose one major area of study from the following areas:
Arts Management Community Arts Creative Practice Arts Social Innovation Arts and Heritage Tourism A distinguishing feature of this course is the substantial professional-level creative and/or professional work-related project you will complete, often in association with external arts industry or other relevant partner.
This will give you the opportunity to apply your advanced knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, well-developed judgement, adaptability and responsibility as a creative or professional practitioner.
You have many options available to you as part of your project, including:
arts management;
events management;
community arts;
festival design and delivery, arts curriculum development;
curatorial and exhibition projects;
fashion;
and a wide range of creative practice areas such as creative writing, editing and publishing including digital storytelling;
film, television and photography;
theatre arts;
music composition and performance;
and the visual arts including painting, sculpture, ceramics, installation and sound art.
Your individual project will be developed in collaboration with the unit teaching staff.

To be eligible for entry into this course, students must have completed a Bachelor degree (or an equivalent qualification) or have satisfied the Dean of School (or nominee), of their competence to undertake the course on the basis of an equivalent qualification or experience.
