About
The Graduate Certificate in Healthy Ageing will provide you with the opportunity to obtain a qualification in healthy ageing that will enable you to venture into the rapidly growing market for health services that provide quality care to the ageing population.
These courses will focus on healthy ageing concepts such as preventable diseases, health promotion and active ageing to ensure that you graduate with the knowledge and skills to apply a holistic approach to the care of your clients/community.
The Graduate Certificate in Healthy Ageing would benefit those currently working in the health care, welfare sector or other area addressing the needs of the ageing population who wish to obtain a contemporary qualification to assist in their insight and knowledge to meet the needs of the ageing population.
Skills and knowledge obtained through this course are relevant and transferable specifically for those who find themselves dealing with members of the ageing population.
This could include (but not limited to) council planning positions, education providers, administration workers, tourism workers, health care or welfare workers.

1 A completed bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college or equivalent;
2. A recognised diploma and two years relevant work experience plus recognised prior learning (RPL) involving continuous professional development as evidenced by at least one of the following:
- Significant contribution to industry;
- Promotion in the workplace;
- Recognition by a professional body;
- Community/industry leadership
- Receipt of significant prizes and/or awards;
- Personal references that attest to the applicants high level performance in the workplace/industry/community, or
- Publications/patents/copyright.
- A minimum of five years relevant professional experience with considerable recognised prior learning (RPL) in a relevant area involving continuous professional development as evidenced by at least two or more of the following:
- Significant contribution to industry;
- Promotion in the workplace;
- Recognition by a professional body;
- Community/industry leadership
- Receipt of significant prizes and/or awards;
- Personal references that attest to the applicants high level performance in the workplace/industry/community, or Publications/patents/copyright.
If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa or USA you are required to meet the English Language Prerequisite by:
- an academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) completed within the last 2 years (from the term you are applying to start) with a minimum achievement of 6.5 across all bands and overall; OR
- a secondary or university qualification which is not more than 5 years old (from the term you are applying for entry into) with a satisfactory level of achievement of at least 2 years in duration from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa or USA.
