About

The Graduate Diploma in Healthy Ageing will focus on issues surrounding healthy ageing.

It examines complex concepts that can be immediately applied in practical situations when caring for anyone who is interested in healthy ageing.

It encourages critical investigation into the impact of the rapidly expanding ageing population nationally and globally ensuring that you graduate with advancing knowledge and skills to apply a holistic approach to the care of ageing persons, regardless of community in which they reside.

This course is aimed at those currently or planning to be working in the health care, welfare sector or area planning to meet the needs of the ageing population.

Skills and knowledge obtained through this course are relevant and transferable specifically for those who find themselves dealing with members of the ageing population.

This could include (but not limited to) council planning positions, education providers, administration workers, tourism workers, health care or welfare workers.

Included in this course you will be introduced to research strategies appropriate to address healthy ageing, planning and other issues associated within the ageing population.

1. A completed bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college or equivalent;

2. A recognised diploma and two years relevant work experience plus recognised prior learning (RPL) involving continuous professional development as evidenced by at least one of the following:

  • Significant contribution to industry;
  • Promotion in the workplace;
  • Recognition by a professional body;
  • Community/industry leadership
  • Receipt of significant prizes and/or awards;
  • Personal references that attest to the applicants high level performance in the workplace/industry/community, or
  • Publications/patents/copyright.
  1. A minimum of five years relevant professional experience with considerable recognised prior learning (RPL) in a relevant area involving continuous professional development as evidenced by at least two or more of the following:
  • Significant contribution to industry;
  • Promotion in the workplace;
  • Recognition by a professional body;
  • Community/industry leadership
  • Receipt of significant prizes and/or awards;
  • Personal references that attest to the applicants high level performance in the workplace/industry/community, or
  • Publications/patents/copyright.

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa or USA you are required to meet the English Language Prerequisite by:

  • an academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) completed within the last 2 years (from the term you are applying to start) with a minimum achievement of 6.5 across all bands and overall; OR
  • a secondary or university qualification which is not more than 5 years old (from the term you are applying for entry into) with a satisfactory level of achievement of at least 2 years in duration from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa or USA.
