About
Bachelor Degrees prepare students to develop broad and coherent knowledge and skills in a discipline for professional work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 7 qualifications.
The Bachelor of Educational Studies is designed for students who want to undertake studies in education but are not intending to seek registration as a qualified school teacher. This course provides exploration of core learning areas of the curriculum along with considerations for diverse needs within an education context. Mentoring, leadership and research with an educational environment will be examined. Students will also have an opportunity to select an educational specialist area of study.
Professional Recognition
This course will not provide graduates with the ability to register as a qualified teacher in a school or educational facility.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may seek employment in education related fields such as tutoring, training and developing education programs for a variety of organisations.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks and other essential study materials.
Structure
Bachelor Degrees typically contain a series of units which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences. They may contain a range of majors, streams and/or minors/specialisations for students to choose from to pursue learning in a specialised area of study. Students can take no more than 250 credit points of first year level units.
This course includes core studies, elective and optional units. Students are able to undertake electives and optional units to specialise in an area of interest.
Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. make informed decisions regarding teaching and learning based on a comprehensive understanding of the learner and application of the curriculum
2. be reflective, creative and critical in the approach to teaching and learning and assessment
3. decide what information is needed and where it might be found using appropriate technologies; make valid judgements and synthesise information from a range of sources
4. communicate effectively and work collaboratively in educational contexts
5. use technologies appropriately in educational contexts
6. be self-motivated, critical, and reflective in their practice based on ongoing professional learning
7. think globally and consider issues from a variety of perspectives; apply international standards and practices within a discipline or professional area
8. respect and respond to the diverse needs of students and communities
9. demonstrate leadership in education by analysing and applying appropriate practices based on a sound knowledge of the principles of learning, teaching and assessment

Entry requirements
Applicants for a Bachelor Degree are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/ and include flexible entry pathways. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Applicants require an ATAR (or equivalent) greater than or equal to 70 and study of Mathematics Applications ATAR (or equivalent) is desirable. Alternatively, the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) elements considered are E, V and Q. Various assessments throughout the course may require students to work with infants, children or young people in family or community-based settings. A current Working with Children Check or equivalent (as applicable in the state or country of residence) is required, along with any other relevant State requirements. It is students' responsibility to secure any such clearances, ensure that they remain current throughout the course of study and are in place for work-based requirements following graduation.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences.
