Graduate Certificates prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.

This course has been developed to provide recent graduates with the opportunity to continue their professional development as a lifelong learner.

Prospective applicants are advised that the course requires full participation in laboratory classes where practical skills and topics are presented. Essential learning strategies demand that all students disrobe appropriately to act as subject for their peer group.

Graduate Certificates contain a series of units which may include compulsory (core), optional or elective units to cater for student preferences.

Duration and Availability

This fee-paying course is one semester full-time or equivalent part time study. Some units within this course are offered externally. All units within this course are available to international students studying in Australia on a study visa.

Entry requirements

Applicants for a Graduate Certificate are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://study.curtin.edu.au/. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent credit gained for recognised learning. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.

Specifically, applicants require a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in physiotherapy from a recognised tertiary institution including a minimum of two years relevant clinical experience at a postgraduate level. These applicants must either be registered physiotherapists in Australia or be eligible for temporary registration as a physiotherapist with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority. Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases Section of the faculty website. Evidence of successful completion of an approved course in (CPR) first aid is required before an award is granted. Students are advised that a Criminal Record Screening and Clearance may be required for students in specific courses offered by this area. Please refer to the General Information section of the Curtin Courses Handbook.

Credit for Recognised Learning

Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences.
