This double major is designed for those intending to become professional accountants and to those specialising in the development and use of computers and information systems for accounting purposes. It provides a good foundation for those entering the information systems industry and to specialise in accounting applications.

This course is accredited by CPA Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), and graduates are eligible to apply for associate membership of both professional bodies. Graduates are eligible to enter into the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) program.

Major/Stream Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply the principles of audit to enable the student to manage a system and accurately report activities; perform assessment skills of accounting principles in relation to organisations in the current workplace
2. apply logical and rational processes to analyse and recommend best accounting and business information systems principles
3. develop interpretation of data and analyse statistics for innovative solutions
4. familiarise students with software, including Microsoft Access that is relevant to relational databases, and the manipulation and presentation of data for management reporting purposes
5. be able to construct and effectively respond to clients with a variety of solutions using professional proposals and other documents; prioritise tasks within activities and promote best practice management and good project management skills
6. able to apply international and domestic standards within the accounting professional discipline
7. create and enhance best work practices amongst individual and team techniques/skills
