Students select their pathway of study in graphic design within the Graphic Design major. This programme provides students with a creatively expansive experience to express their ingenuity, culture, intellectual abilities and skills through creating relevant graphic design solutions. Project based activities develop design processes that embed professional standards with individual thoughts, concepts and ideals. Components of the third year programme are self-directed and lead to a portfolio, exhibition and publication of work. This design major is directed toward employment outcomes as a designer or practitioner in the creative industries sectors. Higher study directions include areas of specialisation in design, research and/or education.

Major/Stream Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply discipline knowledge to critically review, analyse, consolidate and contribute to evidence-based practice in graphic design
2. demonstrate cognitive and technical skills in both a broad understanding and depth in graphic design
3. use and discern between a range of graphic design technologies and media platforms in the production of graphic design-based solutions
4. demonstrate effective visual, spoken, written and technical communication appropriate to the graphic design discipline and apply effective self-directed learning skills
5. demonstrate personal awareness of a graphic design specific practice and sustain an engagement with contemporary practices, technologies and the creative industries
6. develop a predictive overview of future trends that will influence graphic design and graphic design practices
7. recognise the importance of social, ethical and cultural diversity and consider local and international perspectives in graphic design activities, studio practice and production
8. demonstrate how intercultural awareness and understanding impacts on personal and professional skills and on the ability to lead
9. work independently and collaboratively on graphic design projects and respond to project demands
Duration and Availability
This major is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units may be available via external study and some units may not be available in every semester. This major is available to international students studying in Australia on as study visa.
