Specialisations/Minors prepare students to develop broad knowledge about an additional discipline area or same discipline area that complements their study in an award course. Some Specialisations may assist students to progress into postgraduate studies, but have specific entry requirements.
The Pre-Masters Accounting specialisation is designed for students in their third year of the Bachelor of Commerce (B-COMRCE) who wish to undertake an Accelerated Bachelor Masters (ABM) program in the Master of Accounting. This prepares students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.

Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks and other essential study materials.

Specialisation Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply principles of accounting and information systems as they relate to reporting business activity.
2. critically analyse issues in collecting, recording and reporting of economic activity to enable the development of accounting information systems giving cost effective decision useful information.
3. use electronic resources to effectively interrogate databases, analyse data, collect information and communicate.
4. recognise the global nature of accounting by applying international financial reporting standards and appreciate the information requirements of a global financial system.
5. demonstrate an understanding that cultural practices and differences impact commercial practices and interpersonal relations.
6. apply an ethical approach to analysing and reporting commercial activities; advising clients; demonstrate leadership and the ability to delegate tasks to ensure timely outcomes; Work independently and in teams to achieve agreed outcomes.
