This nationally-recognised qualification is the second year of a two-year vocational music program at WAAPA.

The course is designed for musicians wishing to expand their songwriting, instrumental (including vocal), ensemble and musicianship skills.

The course also caters for students wishing to expand sound recording, designing and mixing skills.

On completion of this course, a successful graduate would be expected to gain national industry recognition.

Structure

Students may complete a specialisation in either Performance or Sound Production.

Entry requirements

Admission requirement (Band 1)

  • Completion of Year 10 or equivalent.

English Language requirement (Band 1)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • Year 10 English completion or equivalent.

Course Specific Admission Requirements

All applicants are required to have completed a Diploma qualification in music. Alternatively applicants can be considered who have extensive vocational experience in music practice. Additionally applicants must attend an audition, and attend an interview. Applicants should normally be turning at least 17 by 30th June in the year of commencing the course.

Portfolio pathway applications are not accepted for this course.
