About

This qualification is for teachers and trainers within the vocational education and training sector, in TAFE, Registered Training Organisations, industry or adult education settings;

or for people wishing to work in such settings.

The qualification equips VET teachers and trainers with high-level skills and knowledge to handle the challenges of industry engagement, new modes of learning and a changing VET environment.

You will acquire:

an understanding of the principles and practice of competency based education and assessment relevant to a range of settings insight into the broad social, economic and political context for VET an understanding of learning theories and how to apply them knowledge and techniques to address literacy and numeracy needs of learners an ability to analyse, and think critically and constructively about, issues and developments in the VET sector advanced skills in teaching practice skills and knowledge to liaise with industry at local and national levels skills and knowledge in reflective practice and applied research confidence to pursue higher-level university studiesThis part time course is delivered over 2 years, or 1.5 years if you have already completed a Diploma of VET or Diploma of VET Practice.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements (non year 12)

The entry requirements into the Associate Degree of Vocational Education and Training (VET) are outlined below:

  • Completion of Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE); and
  • four years industry experience; and
  • an industry qualification at Certificate III or above.

An associate degree is normally 16 subjects. Based on the above entry requirements, Federation will grant credit for 8 subjects.

You will be granted credit for 10 subjects if, additionally, you have a Diploma of VET/VET Practice TAE50111, TAE50116 or 21697VIC.

The University will only grant a maximum of 66% credit into any program.
