About
The Bachelor of Social Work requires four years of full-time study (or equivalent part-time).
Note that field work topics must be taken full-time.Students can apply to transfer to the Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) – 4 years at the end of second year.The course is offered by the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work.
Structure
To qualify for the Bachelor of Social Work, a student must complete 144 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the program of study below.
Not all topics are necessarily available in a given year.
Except with permission of the Dean (Education) the course must be completed within 10 consecutive years.
The award of a grade of Fail (F) in the same topic on more than one occasion may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University''s policy on Student Progress.

Learning outcomes
On completion of this course students will be able to:
- analyse Australian social, political and welfare systems and institutions in a global context
- analyse and promote solutions to Australian social issues, change and challenges in their global and historical context
- explore identity, agency and self in culturally diverse contexts
- analyse complexity and understand the implications for practctice
- implement a range of methods, techniques and applications of social work
- engage in community in a variety of settings
- communicate effectively (written and oral)
