About
The Diploma of Digital Technologies requires the completion of 36 units of study and is offered by the College of Science and Engineering.
The Diploma requires one year of full-time study (or the equivalent part-time).Students who have completed the Diploma of Digital Technologies normally receive credit for a maximum of 22.5 units of topics if admitted to the Bachelor of Information Technology, a maximum of 13.5 units of topics if admitted to the Bachelor of Information Technology (Network and Cybersecurity Systems) and a maximum of 36 units of topics if admitted to the Bachelor of Design and Technology Innovation.
Structure
To qualify for the Diploma of Digital Technologies a student must complete 36 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the program of study below. Not all topics necessarily are available in a given year.
The award of a grade of Fail (F) in the same topic on more than one occasion may constitute prima facie evidence of unsatisfactory progress for the purposes of the University's policy on Student Progress.
Except with permission of the Dean (Education), the course must be completed within 4 semesters.

ENGR1210 Innovation and Industry 4.0 (4.5 units) ENGR1211 Digital Design (4.5 units) COMP1210 Cybersecurity for a Connected World (4.5 units) ENGR1212 VET Skills: Design for Manufacture (4.5 units) ENGR1213: VET Skills: Microcontrollers, Embedded Systems and Industry 4.0 (4.5 units) ENGR1214 Digital Transformation Professional Project (9 units)
Option - Year 1 topics
4.5 units selected from:
BUSN2046 Operations and Supply Chain Management (4.5 units) ENGR1215 Cyber-physical systems, robotics and automation (4.5 units)
Entry requirements
This is an employer sponsored program. Eligible students will be nominated by their employer to undertake this Diploma.
The University’s standard undergraduate admission requirements will apply.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this course students will be able to:
- understand and competently use industry 4.0 skills and knowledge to bring about innovation in the workplace
- understand, manage and utilise data within an industry 4.0 context
- identify and apply strategies and actions to maintain data and network security
- communicate effectively with other technicians, associated professionals and the supply chain using a wide range of communication technologies

- work professionally as an individual and in a team
- apply digital design thinking, knowledge and skills
- work within a project management framework
