La Trobe's Bachelor of Health Sciences introduces you to the physical, social and environmental aspects of health and science.

Learn about the role of health professionals and factors that influence health both locally and around the world.

This flexible course gives you a broad understanding of the health sciences field and lets you pursue up to two specialised areas including:

Health and medical sciences (Bundoora only) Gain practical skills and knowledge in relation to the physiological and anatomical principles of the human body.

Health promotion Acquire the practical skills and knowledge needed to promote people's health.

Health, wellbeing and performance (Formerly Sports Counselling and Athlete Welfare major) Develop skills to facilitate improved mental health and wellbeing in sport and broader community settings (e.g.

work, education) Public health Learn the skills needed for public health research and develop strengths in health policy, law and ethics.

Rehabilitation counselling Understand how the counselling process helps people achieve personal, career and independent living goals.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 7.

Applicants with recent secondary education (within the last two years)

Prerequisite

VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

HSC: One of English Standard, English Advanced (Band 2), English as an Additional Language or Dialect (Band 3).

VCE: A study score of 25 in Health And Human Development, any Mathematics, Physical Education or any Science equals 4 aggregate points per study. A study score of 20 in any LOTE equals 4 aggregate points per study. Overall maximum of 12 points.

HSC: Applicants who successfully complete one of the following HSC or equivalent Year 12 subjects will have their selection rank increased by one point per study: Performance Band 3 in Mathematics General 2, Mathematics, Mathematics Extension 1, Mathematics Extension 2, Biology, Chemistry; Physics; Investigating Science; Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE); any language other than English (Band 2). Overall, selection ranks can be increased by a maximum of five points.
