This multidisciplinary course will provide you with a solid grounding in business, then help you build specialist expertise in event management and marketing.

With guidance from industry experts working in the field and also teaching, you'll graduate with a practical understanding of the real-world event industry and networks.

You'll learn:

Event planning and management Understand every aspect of delivering events, including logistics and project management, and study the unique factors involved in coordinating sustainable community events.

Digital business Explore how businesses are developing new operating models for the digital economy and develop the skills to design innovative digital solutions.

Consumer behaviour Analyse the factors influencing the consumer decision-making process and learn to consider how consumer behaviour shapes the development of marketing strategies.

Accounting and finance Discover how to compile and interpret budgets and financial statements and make strategic business planning decisions.

The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 7.

Entry requirements

Applicants with recent secondary education (within the last two years)

Prerequisite

VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Meeting minimum prerequisites does not guarantee an offer of a place. Entry into all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.

La Trobe will consider STAT Multiple Choice results for applicants where: the course has an English prerequisite equivalent to VCE: Units 3 and 4: a study score of 20 in English other than EAL, and/or Units 3 and 4: a study score of 20 in Further Mathematics, and, the course requirements through Work Recognition are not met, or Year 12 or equivalent has not been successfully completed.
