About
The Diploma of Languages will provide you with the opportunity to complete a major in one of the languages offered by the University, while completing a single or double bachelor's degree.It will allow you to study your chosen language starting from a number of different entry points - whether you are an absolute beginner or have studied the language in VCE or overseas.
You will also an understanding of the culture and society, history and media required to effectively communicate in a language.
Structure
The Diploma of Languages comprises of a 48 point language major and is undertaken concurrently while completing a Monash bachelor’s single or double degree. The course is completed part time over two to three years.
The course requires you to study the equivalent of one further year of full-time study, taken part-time over three years. This means that units studied in your bachelor's/double degree cannot be credited into your Diploma of Languages or from your Diploma of Languages into your bachelor's/double degree. They can be credited to either course but not both.

This diploma must be undertaken concurrently with a Monash bachelor's single or double degree. Approval from the faculty offering the primary course of enrolment for the student is required.

These course outcomes are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework level 5 and Monash Graduate Attributes. Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that you will be able to:
1.Communicate in your chosen language to a level equivalent to an undergraduate major (beginners to advanced, depending on commencement level)
2.Recognise differing world views and operate within a range of cultural contexts
3.Explain the cultural and historical contexts in which your chosen language is spoken.
