Business Administration and Arts is a great combination and a great option if you have a passion for both areas and want to keep your career options open.

This double degree enables you to study complementary subjects to further enhance your employability, and develop core business skills that can be used in artistic arenas.This course leads to two separate degrees:the Bachelor of Business Administration, andthe Bachelor of Arts.You will gain all the benefits of each degree course and be fully equipped to pursue a career in either field separately or to combine the two in your chosen work.

Structure

Double degree courses include the features of the component degree courses, except that electives may be reduced.

Business Administration

The Bachelor of Administration is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete the following two parts:

Part A. Business specified study

This will provide you with a broad foundation for your study of business and expose you to several business disciplines. It will contribute breadth to your knowledge of business and develop your understanding of multi-disciplinary decision making in organisations. It will also give you the opportunity to learn more about each discipline before finalising your choice of major.

Part B. Business listed major

This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise. You will develop, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of your major area of study.

Arts

The Bachelor of Arts is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete the following two parts:

Part A. Arts listed major

This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your practical and theoretical skills and knowledge in one Faculty of Arts listed major area of study. You will learn to critically analyse, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of the area of study.

Part B. Arts specified study

This will expose you to several arts disciplines areas of study contributing breadth to your knowledge of the arts, humanities and social sciences. It will also give you the opportunity to learn about several areas of study before finalising your choice of major and minor.

Subject prerequisites

All applicants must satisfy the following prerequisites or their equivalents.

Australian VCE subjects

English

Units 3 & 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in English other than EAL

Maths

Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics

Sciences/Other

N/A

IB subjects

At least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL

Maths

At least 3 in any mathematics subject

VET Study

All applicants must satisfy the equivalence of the VCE subject prerequisites.

VET Diploma graduates:To be considered, applicants who have completed a Humanities or Social Science based diploma will require an average result of at least 60%. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements.

VET Certificate IV graduates:To be considered, applicants with Humanities or Social Science based certificate IV level studies will require average results of at least 70%. For applicants who have also completed VCE, both qualifications will be considered. No credit is granted for these studies.

Higher education

University:Two single units at an Australian higher education institution satisfy minimum entry requirements, but more units may be useful for selection, especially in Humanities or Social Science areas. Applicants should have at least a 60% average in their studies. Studies must have been completed within five years of intended commencement.
