As a registered Psychologist, this course will prepare you to practise as an educational and developmental psychologist in a range of settings including primary and secondary schools, health and welfare services, hospitals, care facilities, clinics and private practice and within business and corporate environments.

Structure

The course is structured in two parts: Part A. Advanced studies in educational and developmental psychology and Part B. Advanced clinical placement.

Part A. Advanced studies in educational and developmental psychology (24 points)

These studies will advance your knowledge and skill development to practice in the field of educational and developmental psychology. Guided by sound ethical principles, and through collaborative participation in coursework lectures and workshops, you will develop both expert knowledge of educational and developmental psychology across the lifespan and your critical thinking skills for professional practice.

Part B. Advanced clinical placement (24 points)

These studies involve professional experience in educational and developmental settings where you have the opportunity to apply theory to practice under the supervision of experienced practitioners who have an area of practice endorsement in educational and developmental psychology. Across the course you will complete a minimum of 750 recorded hours of supervised professional experience

Entry requirements

Qualifications

To be eligible for admission, applicants must have current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and must satisfy the following requirements:

  • have completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited Masters (coursework) degree in Psychology

OR

  • have held General Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia for a minimum duration of 12 months.

In addition, applicants must provide evidence of demonstrated suitability for work as a professional psychologist determined by completion of a supplementary form and at least one professional referee report.
