This is a prestigious program of coursework and research in Nursing for high achieving students who have completed the Bachelor of Nursing or a comparable degree course.You will undertake research methodology training and carry out an independent research project in your specialist field, working closely with a supervisor who will provide you with individual guidance and academic counselling.
The course offers a pathway to higher-level research in nursing for graduates with a Nursing degree.
Structure
This course consists of a combination of coursework and research. You will develop advanced theoretical knowledge and research methodologies appropriate to your area of specialisation, Nursing or Midwifery, and plan and execute a research project under the individual guidance of an academic supervisor.

Qualifications
Successful completion of the Monash Bachelor of Nursing for those wishing to specialise in nursing or the Monash Bachelor of Midwifery for those wishing to specialise in midwifery with a distinction average (at least 70 percent) in the final full two years of study as well as distinction average in 24 points at level 3 or above in the discipline
OR
A qualification and achievement level in nursing from another institution comparable in content and academic standards.

Learning outcomes
These course outcomes are aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework Level 8 and Monash Graduate Attributes. Upon successful completion of this course it is expected that you will be able to:
1.critically review scientific literature in nursing and health or midwifery and health
2.describe the processes involved in the design, development and implementation of a research project
3.develop a proposal for a research project
4.apply for ethical approval for projects, where necessary
5.execute and analyse a research project, or a set of studies
6.undertake computer-based data manipulation and analysis
7.present research findings, both written and orally, to a specialist audience
8.write up scientific work in a format suitable for publication
9.perform a range of technical skills appropriate to their research project
10.demonstrate understanding of the research process in an area relating to nursing and/or midwifery.
