No new applications for admission will be accepted.As a teacher of visual arts subjects, you will guide students through their journey to the knowledge and skills that will enable them to become confident creative individuals, artists, designers and cultural participants both in Australia and in other cultures.
You will be able to share your talent and knowledge with enthusiastic young people who are developing their interests in the creative arts.The Bachelor of Teaching (Fine Art)(Honours) program at the University of Newcastle aims to develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary for a highly successful career in teaching across educational sectors.
The opportunity is also provided to extend your visual, media and design teaching accreditation to include either Drama or History teaching.
Graduates of this program will be able to seek employment as 7-12 (Secondary) teachers in and beyond the New South Wales Government, Catholic, and Independent school sectors.
This innovative program integrates the studies of your chosen teaching subjects with teaching and learning skill development.
Classroom observation and professional practice experiences are closely integrated throughout the program.
The program aims to develop graduates who are inspirational teachers with the capability to act professionally, ethically and effectively in their Secondary school destinations;
insightful scholars with the capability to engage in rational enquiry into curriculum, policy and practice;
and innovative leaders with the capability to play a constructive role in public discourse on and beyond education.
