The Associate Degree of Integrated Care in Ageing is a multi-disciplinary qualification that draws on expertise from a wide range of disciplines including bioscience, allied health, nursing, public health and health economics, health promotion, health law and ethics, and business.

The qualification will help you gain specialised knowledge and critical thinking skills needed for a successful career working with older people.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the program students will have:

  • Demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of the principles underpinning integrated healthcare within the context of ageing from primary through to tertiary care and associated social services
  • Demonstrated an advanced understanding of the values, theory and application of person-centred care and capacity to lead, manage and work within a model of co-designed service delivery where the individual and/or the family/carer is acknowledged as the expert
  • Demonstrated an understanding of the complex nature of wellness and ageing and the ability to assess an individual's needs from a bio/psycho/social basis acknowledging the unique and individually influenced characteristics of spirituality, ethinicity and indigenisation
  • Demonstrated the capacity to develop, lead and advocate person-centred and/or family/carer pathways through engaging, connecting and navigating services to meet the individual/family/carer health and social needs
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the various aged care funding models including ACFI, and Consumer Directed Care Home Care
  • Demonstrated the capacity to apply clinical reasoning, critical reflection, ethical decision-making, and leadership-governance to complex problems within a person-centred framework
  • Demonstrated an advanced understanding of eHealth and emerging person-centred health applications and information technology
