Education double degrees offer qualifications that can lead to a teaching career or allow you to pursue careers in a range of industries.
In this double degree students complete the requirements for two separate degrees in four and a half years.
The course consists of units in information technology and education.

Prerequisites
You must have passed four semesters (Units 3 & 4, C) at an Australian high school level or equivalent:
- English, or Literature, or English and Literature Extension, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C); and
- at least one of General Mathematics, or Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C); and
- at least one of Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Marine Science, Physics, or Psychology (Units 3 & 4, C).

You may be able to meet the prerequisite requirements if you've completed equivalent subjects or by completing bridging courses.

Applicants must demonstrate possession of key competencies outlined by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) as those attributes and motivations common to effective teachers.
You must complete an online questionnaire to demonstrate your motivation for and understanding of, the course and profession. Details are available from the QTAC initial teacher education webpage.
Offer guarantee
If you achieve an ATAR/selection rank of 87.00 or higher (including any adjustments) and satisfy all other admission requirements, you are guaranteed an offer for this course.
Advanced standing
If you have prior studies or work experience, you may be eligible for advanced standing (credit). You can apply for advanced standing once you've been accepted to QUT. If you're in your first semester of study, you must apply for advanced standing within 10 days of receiving your offer.

This double degree will equip you to lead the development of technology solutions in the education sector.
Graduates of education will have a solid foundation of knowledge to teach in secondary schools. Your career will be guided by, but not limited to, your chosen teaching areas. Your qualification can also allow you to work in other locations in Australia and overseas.
In the Bachelor of Education component you will learn to innovate and incorporate digital technologies in your teaching. You will be equipped with entrepreneurial thinking and leadership skills and develop the resilience and creative capabilities to adapt to ongoing workforce changes and future opportunities
Our aim is to empower QUT education graduates to shape their own career path and explore the many ways to make an impact. Teachers develop a range of skills which, in combination with work experience and personal qualities, equip them for a variety of careers outside the classroom, including:
- education policy and program implementation
- training and development roles in private and public organisations
- education and outreach roles
- developing products for the education services industry
- learning designer
- entertainment industry roles
- consultancy
- education research.
Career opportunities are unbounded with information technology being an integral part of all commercial, industrial, government, social and personal activities. IT graduates work in a wide variety of roles such as:

Professional recognition(DOM,INT)
This course meets professional teaching standards for the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership, and Queensland College of Teachers and graduates are eligible to apply for teacher registration.
Graduates may also be eligible for membership to the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
