Commercial Law major Learn the intricacies of laws directly relevant to business or commerical transactions.

Choose from topics that match your career aspirations, such as:

banking and finance law, intellectual property, consumer protection, estate planning, corporate insolvency or insurance laws.

Project Management Law major Designed specifically for engineers, senior managers, mining executives and contract administrators, our project management major gives you powerful insight into emerging issues within exciting areas such as environmental, natural resources and energy law.

Health Law Major A hospital, clinic, office, gym, or on a sports field - it doesn’t matter where your health job is, if you’re involved in the health industry and want to know more about the laws governing your work place, consider studying health law at QUT.

The core units offer an introduction to Australia’s common law system and health law ethics, which is also available as a stand alone unit.

These are critical to understanding the context of health law within the Australian legal system.

Health administrators or managers You will find our units on health management, health information, quality of management, leadership in health, health care delivery and international health policy can allow you to consider your work place from an entirely new and fresh perspective.

You will be able to implement efficiencies and integrate policies and procedures to minimise risk and provide a higher quality service.

Palliative & Aged Care Working in palliative care, geriatric medicine or management within the aged care or disability industries presents many daily challenges.

Our units on death, decisions and the law;

consent and clinical negligence;

and elder law offer incredible insight into issues that can arise each day.

You can gain the confidence and knowledge to manage these issues effectively.

NDIS With the NDIS being rolled out, service providers and carers need to be empowered and confident about the changes to the health care model and their obligations within it.

Areas of capacity, guardianship and administration are critical areas of knowledge to ensure a smooth transition to the new commercialised environment.

Within the applied law graduate certificate, you can undertake units on this area to ensure you’re across the legal frame work and how it applies in this evolving space.

This may include elder law, capacity and guardianship, health care delivery or risk assessment.

Children You may work with children, in child advocacy, child care, social work or in fertility, so our units on children’s health, conception, birth and the law offer an introduction to key issues, considering real case studies and how the law has been applied.

Medical & Health professionals Discover the ins and outs of law in a clinical context with our unit on consent and clinical negligence.

Offering real world cases and practical examples, applied law at QUT is the starting point for gaining confidence with legal issues in your work place.

Depending on your role and interest in management, units on health management, health information, quality of management and leadership in health may also offer the career expansion you’re looking for.

No major For flexibility and to tailor your learning to your interests and career aspirations, you can select from any units on offer to complete the course without a major.

You can complete the course without a major either online, on campus or a combination of both.

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Law is made up of 4 units (48 credit points)

The Generic, Commercial Law Major and Health Law Major consists of: 2 core units and 2 Law elective units.

The Project Management Major consists of: 3 core units and 1 Law elective unit.
