The prevalence of digital technologies in industry is resulting in growing demand for savvy IT professionals across a diverse range of sectors and roles.

Fields such as data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security, virtual and augmented reality, and the Internet of Things continue to evolve rapidly.

Business investment in these areas continues to grow, as does the demand for expertise in these areas (source:

Our new Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security and Networks has been developed to align with those emerging IT industry trends.

Domestic Students

To graduate with a Certificate in Cyber Security and Networks you are required to complete 48 credit points of course units consisting of:

• 36 credit pooints of core units; plus
• 12 credit points of discipline option units selected from an approved list of units.

International Students

To graduate with a Certificate in Cyber Security and Networks you are required to complete 48 credit points of course units consisting of:

• 36 credit pooints of core units; plus
• 12 credit points of discipline option units selected from an approved list of units.

A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in information technology or related discipline; or

A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline and three years full-time (or equivalent) professional experience in an information technology related field; or

A recognised diploma (or higher qualification) in information technology or related discipline and at least two years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience in an information technology related field; or

At least five years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience in an information technology field.

Upon graduation you will have the ability to demonstrate well-developed information security and network management discipline knowledge. You will be able to investigate, appraise, and apply discipline specific methods and approaches to address complex cyber security and networking challenges. Application of your knowledge and skills will result in considered and relevant information security and network management solutions.

Course articulation(DOM)

Upon successful completion of this course, you will eligible for entry into IN20 - Master of Information Technology with a reduced course duration.

Course articulation(INT)

QUT offers an pathway for international students who want to study a Master of Information Technology. The Graduate Certificate in Communication for Information Technology (IN17) is designed to help students acquire postgraduate level knowledge and skill in a specialist information technology discipline, while developing competency in English language and academic literacy. Upon successful completion of IN17, students are eligible for one semester of advanced standing towards the Master of Information Technology (see course description for details).
