About
The Associate Degree in Health Sciences provides a broad based introduction to Health Sciences exploring both the individual and public view of health in Australia.
The Australian Health sector is rapidly changing with new employment opportunities opening up.
The Associate Degree will provide you with a vocational outcome and a pathway to further education opportunities.The Program requires on-campus attendance and involves blended learning including face to face teaching, tutorials and online activities.The first year focusses on understanding the body in health and disease, introducing you to the Australian health system and the role of different health professionals.
You will explore the roles of health promotion in the Australian and International context.The second year focuses on health promotion and provides you with knowledge and skills to work with individuals and groups to promote health through education and other strategies.
Graduates may find employment in government departments, local governments, community health centres, aged care agencies and health promotion organisations.In the final year, you will undertake a capstone experience PUBH1408 Health:
Industry Project and Practice participating in a work-integrated learning (WIL) activity.

Entry requirements
Program entry requirements Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent. For information on international qualifications and corresponding entry requirements that are equivalent to Australian academic entry requirements, see the Country equivalents page.
Prerequisites Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) prerequisite units 3 and 4— a study score of at least 25 in English (ESL) or at least 20 in any other English.
English language requirements A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.0, with no band below 5.5; or equivalent. Learning outcomes
As a graduate of the program you will have the skills and knowledge to work effectively in the health sector, with an understanding of the Australian Health system and the major health issues facing Australia. You will be able to manage yourself and others in the work environment and you will bring the specific knowledge and skills of your chosen area of interest.
Over the duration of the program you will develop the ability to:
1. access up to date discipline information/knowledge and ensure that decisions and actions are informed by a critical assessment of information
2. analyse and interpret information to determine appropriate solutions to predictable and unpredictable situations
3. recognise and apply relevant technologies in health to perform work tasks
4. communicate effectively in a range of forms (written, oral) and with diverse audiences and cultural groups (community, clients and health professionals)
5. manage and develop your own work and lead and manage others within a health or community context
6. apply ethical practices and be committed to the ethical and professional standards in health
7. apply the knowledge and skills of your study stream in community or health care settings
