About
The Bachelor of Applied Science (Project Management) (Honours) will develop your broadly based and specialised knowledge of project management.
The courses in this program have been designed to enable you to develop and apply your theoretical and practice based knowledge to achieve effective project management.
You will be able to conceptualise a project, develop a project plan and effectively implement a project, analysing project outcomes.The program will develop your discipline based and interdisciplinary knowledge of project management practice and principles in a range of organisational contexts and industry settings.
As a graduate of this program, you will be able to perform a broad spectrum of roles that project management entails, ranging from working on project teams to leading them, in a diverse range of domains.
You will be equipped to apply your practice-based knowledge, skills and expertise to diverse industries within the field of project management, which include construction management, property, manufacturing, infrastructure, health, finance, business, IT and event management.This program replicates industry and professional practice contexts and will equip you to work independently and collaboratively to develop your project management capacity and expertise.
In doing so, you will develop your expert knowledge of specialised areas within project management including project planning, quality management, risk analysis, procurement, stakeholder management, project evaluation and financial analysis.You will critically engage with project management theory and best practice principles and evaluate and implement project management strategies as appropriate to the industry and organisational context.
You will be able to apply high level critical thinking, project management and problem-solving skills to effectively address industry needs and priorities, and be equipped to contribute effectively to the leadership and project management of projects.In the final year, you will complete a project-based capstone course BUSM4333 in which you will synthesise and integrate your knowledge and skills, connect theory and practice, as well as demonstrate your holistic understanding of the program's learning outcomes.Upon successful completion of this program, you will be able to critically analyse and respond to diverse client needs.
You will be experienced in collaborating with diverse project stakeholders and be able to interpret new developments and theoretical knowledge to inform your decision making as a project management professional.
You will be equipped to contribute your specialised knowledge and expertise to project teams and utilise your skills and knowledge to realise project outcomes and deliverables.Successful completion of this program will also equip you with skills for working in local and global contexts, and support your further learning, research and life-long learning.Successful completion of this program provides a pathway into a Master degree.
Upon successful completion of this program you may also be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University.

Entry requirements
You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school) qualification.

Prerequisites
Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Mathematics.
International English language requirement
A minimum of IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent. For equivalents to English entry requirements, see the English requirements web page.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program you will have developed the knowledge and skills to enable best practice in project management. As a project management professional, you will be well equipped to practise across a variety of industry contexts from residential, commercial and industrial construction to civil, environmental, health, finance, business, events, IT and government projects. As a graduate, you will develop the following program learning outcomes:
1. Determine and apply knowledge of complex project management theory to your professional practice and/or further study 2. Professionally communicate to a range of audiences, demonstrating in depth knowledge of the discipline and of the needs of diverse project management stakeholders 3. Apply logical, critical and creative thinking to analyse, synthesise and apply theoretical knowledge and technical skills, to formulate evidenced based solutions to industry problems or issues 4. Utilise appropriate methods and techniques to design and /or execute research based or professionally focused project management projects, demonstrating capacity for independent and collaborative learning, addressing real world industry issues 5.
