About
This program will develop the theoretical knowledge and skills you require to work in a wide range of professional settings, including government and non government, both in Australia and internationally.
You will build a foundation for understanding and analysing the relationships between the global and local dimensions of sustainability as well as the importance of natural and social diversity in a changing world.The program has been designed to enable you to engage critically wiith sustainability theory and environmental policy frameworks to address sustainability imperatives and environmental stakeholder needs and issues.
You will develop a breadth of knowledge and skills in areas including sustainability, environmental assessment, professional communication and project management.
Upon successful completion, you will be equipped to work in roles such as environmental advocate, consultant or manager.You will engage critically with legislative and policy frameworks across different policy and legislative contexts.
You will learn to advocate, consult and collaborate within different cultural settings and develop skills for bringing about legislative and/or policy reform.The program is offered on campus in face to face mode of delivery.
You will investigate the link between environmental and social wellbeing, developing your knowledge and skills through independent and collaborative research, problem-solving and team work.A capstone experience is provided in which you will integrate and synthesise your knowledge, connect theory to practice and demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes.
The program also provides opportunities for you to undertake study tours or exchange programs outside Australia.As a graduate you will be able to work within Australia in local, state or federal government agencies, environmental protection agencies, NGOs, and environmental sustainability businesses or consultancies.
Employment can be found in similar sectors in other countries or in international aid and development organisations.Successful completion of this program provides a pathway to a Masters.
Upon successful completion of this program you may also be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University.

Entry requirements
You must have successfully completed an Australian Year 12 (or equivalent senior secondary school) qualification.

Prerequisites
Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in any other English.
International English language requirement
A minimum of IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent. For equivalents to English entry requirements, see the English requirements web page.
Learning outcomes
As a graduate of the progarm you will be able to: 1. Apply a body of theoretical and practical knowledge of principles and practice of natural resource policy, sustainability, globalisation and environmental management to professional practice or further study. 2. Critically analyse, synthesise and reflect on knowledge related to the social implications of environmental concerns and challenges both in Australia and globally. 3. Apply logical, critical and creative thinking to effectively solve a range of problems associated with environmental management and associated policies and programs 4. Work effectively and productively with others in a range of roles in a variety of professional and social contexts 5. Communicate effectively using appropriate formats, media and styles to a range of audiences including other professionals, the public and government agencies and collaborate partnerships with others. 6. Assist in the identification of needs, and the design, planning, resourcing and implementation of research and development projects in environmental and social sustainability. 7. Reflect on the experience of personal and professional practice in international and cross-cultural settings and to act in professionalized settings responsibly, ethically and with integrity
