The Bachelor of Fashion (Design Technology) is offered to applicants who have completed an Associate Degree in Fashion or applicants who have an equivalent qualification.This degree builds on the skills and knowledge you have developed in the two year Associate Degree in Fashion (Design and Technology).

The degree enables you to operate creatively and with relevance in the fashion industry.

Your studies will focus on fashion design, production and digital technology, and will equip you to be a technically proficient member of the fashion industry with a perspective oriented toward the future of fashion.The courses in the program are designed to enable you to gain advanced knowledge and capabilities in a specialised area of fashion.

This will encompass an introduction to research, design development, pattern design, digital technology and garment construction.

The primary mode of delivery is face-to-face and the methods of teaching include tasks that ask you consider the use of technology in the production of fashion.

This degree consists of theoretical, technical and practical courses delivered in an industry-simulated work environment, where KA:

Correctedyour knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.This degree will also provide you with an advanced knowledge and capabilities in social, global and sustainability issues related to fashion design, production and digital technology in the contemporary and future fashion system.

In your final year you will undertake a capstone experience in GRAP2758 Fashion Project - Collection.

This experience will enable you to synthesise and integrate your knowledge, connect theory and practice, and demonstrate your holistic achievement of the program learning outcomes.Upon successful completion of this program you will have developed work ready capabilities to promote yourself to prospective employers or potential clients in a local or global context.

As a graduate of the Bachelor of Fashion (Design Technology) you can expect to be employed in fashion and product design, pattern design, product development and production management.

Entry requirements

Academic entrance requirements:

You must have successfully completed an associate degree in fashion design; OR successfully completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent) in fashion design.

Note:

Entry is guaranteed for any student who achieves the GPA of 2.0 or above in the final year of the AD014 Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology at RMIT. In this case, no folio is required.

Selection task:

Applicants who have not completed the RMIT Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology must submit an electronic folio. Some applicants may be required to attend an interview.

English language requirements

A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent.
