About

The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) focuses on the education and care of children from birth to 8 in a range of early childhood settings.

This program provides you with professional learning to foster positive development and learning in infants, toddlers and preschool aged children.

Emphasis is given to developing partnerships with families of young children and collaborating with other professionals in supporting young children in their development and learning.

In your final year of study you will undertake a research project in a capstone course (TCHE 2536 Professional Issues in Early Childhood Education).

This capstone course is the culmination of your learning and requires you to integrate and apply knowledge and skills from previous years of your program.You will develop competence in pedagogical approaches through professional experience, projects and other practical learning experiences and make links with theory and practice drawn from both Australian and international contexts and research.Upon completion of this program, you will be a professional practitioner possessing broad knowledge and skills to address children's developmental and learning needs, including those with special needs, in inclusive settings.

You will understand children and diversity, and be able to collaborate with colleagues, families and community.

You will be a competent advocator, researcher and communicator in early childhood education and care.

You will be able to plan, assess, manage and lead quality education programs for young children and families.Upon graduation, you will be eligible for employment in a diverse range of early childhood organisations, both locally and internationally, and other government agencies.

Entry requirements

You must have successfully completed two years of study in an Australian Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or equivalent overseas qualification)

International English language requirements:

A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent.

Learning outcomes

The Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) has been designed to prepare you to work with children in early childhood educational settings.

As a graduate of this program you will be able to:
