About

The overall objective of the Bachelor of Health Science / Bachelor of Applied Science (Chinese Medicine) double degree program is to prepare you to become a professionally competent and responsible Chinese Medicine practitioner who is eligible to be registered by the CMRB/CMBA.

The Program also aims to provide you with the qualifications necessary to become a member of Chinese medicine professional associations.The program is designed as a holistic, integrated five-year sequence, which will skill you for entry into the Chinese Medicine profession.

It is not possible to exit the program with a single three year degree in either Health or Applied Science.The final year of the program prepares you for employment with capstone courses COTH2129 Supervised Clinical Practice 2 and COTH2042 Clinical Internship.This combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, clinical experience and recognised qualifications aims to prepare you for a career in Chinese medicine which may involve independent practice, employment in a multi-discipline health care clinic, teaching and/or research.You will be provided with opportunities to employ the knowledge and skills in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine that you acquire from this program in clinical practice at the RMIT Teaching Clinic.

In addition, during the internship you will experience practice in a public hospital in China and acquire skills in the management of a wide range of disorders.

Fluency in the Chinese language is not a requirement for this Internship practicum.This program is offered in face-to-face mode (on campus), with support for flexible learning where appropriate.

Prerequisites

Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) prerequisite units 3 and 4 — a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in any other English.

English language requirements

A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0; or equivalent.
