About

In this program you will develop knowledge and skills related to business, information systems, information technology and interpersonal relations, using these to create business information system solutions.

The final year of the program includes the capstone course, ISYS2452 Design Thinking and the Digital Startup.

This capstone experience enables you to critically reflect on and consolidate your theoretical and practical learning.You will experience a variety of learning experiences that may include:

lectures and tutorials, assignments, collaborative projects, and activities for developing information systems in a business context.

Assessment includes formal examinations, written assignments, evaluation of case studies, completion of projects, and in-class tests.The program also promotes the application of information systems design and development to real-world scenarios, leading to work-readiness or entry to graduate studies.

As a graduate of this program you will be prepared to work in any organisation anywhere in the world due to the ubiquity of information systems in global business environments.

You may be employed in a number of roles, such as:

business analyst, software designer, software developer, network administrator, database administrator, IT consultant, or IT support.

Entry requirements

Applicants with recent secondary education (current and within the past two years):

Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent. VCE study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL or equivalent.

If applicable, this includes equity access schemes and any other adjustment factors.

Vocational Education and Training study applicants:

Successful completion of an Australian Diploma or Advanced Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification.

Higher Education Diploma applicants:

Successful completion of an Australian Higher Education Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification.

Associate Degree applicants:

Domestic applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of four courses in an Australian Associate Degree with GPA converted to ATAR and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

International applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of eight courses in an Australian Associate Degree and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

All Bachelor Degree applicants:

Domestic applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of two courses at an Australian Bachelor Degree with GPA converted to ATAR and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

International applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of four courses at an Australian Bachelor Degree and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

Open Universities Australia (OUA) applicants:

Successful completion of two Open Universities Australia higher education units. Scored or graded results are required.

Entrance requirements for international onshore applicants:

Applicants with Work and Life experience:

You may satisfy the academic requirements by completing the STAT multiple choice. If you are applying to RMIT as an applicant with work or life experience, you may sit the STAT multiple choice if you:

  • are 19 years of age or over as of 1 January in the year in which you will start your studies and
  • have not been enrolled in secondary studies for at least two years and
  • have no prior secondary school (Year 12), VET studies, HE studies or relevant work experience that can be considered for entry, or these do not meet the minimum academic requirements for the program

STAT results are valid for two years prior to the commencement of study and can be used to meet Year 12 English prerequisites. You are still required to meet all other program prerequisites or equivalents.
