About
The Bachelor of Languages will develop your advanced bilingualism and communication skills and prepare you for a career in language related fields.
You will acquire knowledge of the nature and politics of language as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills in a language other than English.
You will also gain deep social and cultural knowledge of the countries where the target language is spoken, a greater appreciation for and openness towards other peoples and cultures in general, and enhanced intercultural competence and professional communication skills.The program provides an overview of popular theory, issues and opportunities in language and related industries.
You will major in translating and interpreting, and choose one minor from streams in japanese, international business, marketing or management .
The professionally oriented minor streams will provide you with a pathway to a further qualification in these areas.
These qualities will increase your employment prospects, as employers in many industries will recognise the benefits of such qualities in the multilingual and multicultural communities of today’s globalised world.The core units provide a foundation of strong theoretic and practical intercultural knowledge for international social and work life.
A project-based capstone course and internship ensure that you will have ample opportunity to apply your studies to real life experiences.The program offers opportunities for further learning through extra-curricular activities such as student-run language clubs, international exchange programs and study tours.This program requires students to attend classes on campus.

Entry requirements
Academic entrance requirements: Successful completion of Foundation Studies program or equivalent; Successful completion of Year 12 (or equivalent) with an average grade of 7.00/10.00 or above. International English language requirements: RMIT Vietnam accepts the following international English tests: IELTS (Academic), TOEFL (Paper based) and (Internet Based Test – iBT), Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE(A), Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE). Please refer to the RMIT Vietnam English language entry requirements web page for required proficiency scores.

Note: TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson and Cambridge results are recognised for two years from the test date. RMIT English results are recognised for one year from the test date.

Learning outcomes
In this program you will be assessed on your development of program learning outcomes in areas of communication, life-long learning, global outlook, cultural and social awareness and work preparedness. As a graduate of this program you will develop:
- Communicate effectively in a range of forms and in different international and cross-cultural contexts, using appropriate modes of communication including electronic, written, graphic, oral and aural forms with audiences within and external to the discipline.
- Critically reflect on the role of culture in communication and society and apply this knowledge in a range of cross-cultural interactions locally and globally.
