About

The Bachelor of Business (Blockchain Enabled Business) program provides the knowledge and skills required in the application and management of blockchain and other distributed-ledger technologies (DLTs) in management and of public and private enterprises through a multi-disciplinary curriculum involving in-depth theoretical and practical learning and professional training, combined with generalist business studies in statistics, accounting, marketing, management, and business IT.The program is delivered on-campus through face-to-face teaching and learning, with some online components, where you will be engaged in a variety of learning experiences, including lectures and tutorials, individual assignments, collaborative team-based projects, presentations, and simulation activities.

Assessments may include formal examinations, written assignments, presentations, evaluation of case studies, projects, and in-class tests.The final year of the program includes the capstone course ECON1561 Blockchain Application Project, which will provide you the opportunity to critically reflect on, consolidate and apply the theoretical approaches and work practice experiences gained throughout the program.

This capstone course in discipline related real-world scenarios, will provide you with the skills and attributes necessary for work-readiness in your chosen career field or to progress successfully to further studies at the graduate level.This program will prepare you to work in a globalised, international context as a business analyst, consultant, advisor or project leader in the many and varied business sectors that adopt distributed ledger technology, including finance, banking, health, trade, supply chain and logistics, and a range of government agencies and services requiring high level, technical expertise in DLTs;

or for postgraduate studies and possible employment in tertiary education and academia.

Entry requirements

Applicants with recent secondary education (current and within the past two years):

Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent. VCE study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL or equivalent.

If applicable, this includes equity access schemes and any other adjustment factors.

Vocational Education and Training study applicants:

Successful completion of an Australian Diploma or Advanced Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification.

Higher Education Diploma applicants:

Successful completion of an Australian Higher Education Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification.

Associate Degree applicants:

Domestic applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of four courses in an Australian Associate Degree with GPA converted to ATAR and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

International applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of eight courses in an Australian Associate Degree and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

All Bachelor Degree applicants:

Domestic applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of two courses at an Australian Bachelor Degree with GPA converted to ATAR and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

International applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of four courses at an Australian Bachelor Degree and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

Open Universities Australia (OUA) applicants:

Successful completion of two Open Universities Australia higher education units. Scored or graded results are required.

Entrance requirements for international onshore applicants:

Applicants with Work and Life experience:

You may satisfy the academic requirements by completing the STAT multiple choice. If you are applying to RMIT as an applicant with work or life experience, you may sit the STAT multiple choice if you:

  • are 19 years of age or over as of 1 January in the year in which you will start your studies and
  • have not been enrolled in secondary studies for at least two years and
  • have no prior secondary school (Year 12), VET studies, HE studies or relevant work experience that can be considered for entry, or these do not meet the minimum academic requirements for the program

STAT results are valid for two years prior to the commencement of study and can be used to meet Year 12 English prerequisites. You are still required to meet all other program prerequisites or equivalents.

Bachelor of Business (Blockchain Enabled Business) graduates are able to provide value-adding advice on the application of blockchain, distributed ledger and related technologies for a range of business sectors, invoking the combined disciplines of economics, finance, accounting, IT and law, to enable individuals and public and private organizations to make well-informed decisions. You will be able to integrate theoretical and technical proficiency to address a range of blockchain applications and contexts that enable you to respond to specific situations and the needs of clients with differing understandings and from a diversity of cultural backgrounds.
