The Bachelor of Business Innovation and Enterprise is a multi-disciplinary business program to equip you with the skills, competencies and knowledge needed as a business professional of the future, in a rapidly evolving world.

Right now, business is exponentially changing.

Disruption is ‘the new normal’, and businesses are under intense pressure to embrace digital transformation, new ways of working and to leverage opportunities to provide an outstanding customer experience in a new globalised economy.

The business professional of the future needs to be innovative, quick to act, flexible, forward-thinking and able to lead and adapt to changing business environments both locally and globally.

They need to apply their knowledge and skills and be able to solve complex challenges, steer change and feel empowered to make a positive change in business and in society.In order to achieve these objectives, the Bachelor of Business Innovation and Enterprise enables you to develop:Personal capabilities, including self-efficacy;

to go wherever the future leads.The Bachelor of Business Innovation and Enterprise is a program where you work on real-world outcomes through project-based learning, and create artefacts that can be used as a professional portfolio in the real world.

This program is multi-disciplinary in business where you will develop an understanding of the theory and practice of decision making and policy formation, organisational development, planning, financial management, the marketing and selling of goods and services and law.

Examples of learning areas include:

global sustainability;

cybersecurity planning;

blockchain + law;

technology and small business;

Managing globally/remotely;

Big data and law;

Robotics.

Examples of competencies in the program include:

self-efficacy, global outlook, cultural awareness, flexibility, creativity, critical thinking, ability to lead and succeed in changing environments, digital literacy.The final year of the program includes the capstone course BUSM4729 Digital Business Transformation, which will provide you the opportunity to critically reflect on, consolidate and apply the theoretical approaches and work practice experiences gained throughout the program.

This capstone course in discipline related real-world scenarios, will provide you with the skills and attributes necessary for work-readiness in your chosen career field or to progress successfully to further studies at the graduate level.The program is delivered on-campus through face-to-face teaching and learning, with some online components, where you will be engaged in a variety of learning experiences.

Entry requirements

Applicants with recent secondary education (current and within the past two years):

Successful completion of an Australian Year 12 senior secondary certificate of education or equivalent. If applicable, this includes equity access schemes and any other adjustment factors.

Vocational Education and Training study applicants:

Successful completion of an Australian Diploma or Advanced Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification.

Higher Education Diploma applicants:

Successful completion of an Australian Higher Education Diploma or equivalent overseas qualification with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 out of 4.0 / 60% Weighted Average Mark (WAM).

Associate Degree applicants:

Domestic applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of four courses in an Australian Associate Degree with GPA converted to ATAR and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

International applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of an Australian Associate Degree.

All Bachelor Degree applicants:

Domestic applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of two courses in an Australian Bachelor Degree with GPA converted to ATAR and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

International applicants who have successfully completed the equivalent of four courses in an Australian Bachelor Degree with a GPA of 2.0 and no double-fail in any required course of the receiving degree.

Open Universities Australia (OUA) applicants:

Successful completion of two Open Universities Australia higher education units with a GPA of 2.0.

Entrance requirements for international onshore applicants:

All non-Australian residents and overseas full-fee paying students are required to meet RMIT English language requirements. For more information on these requirements see English Language Requirements at RMIT.

Applicants with Work and Life experience:

You may satisfy the academic requirements by completing the STAT multiple choice. If you are applying to RMIT as an applicant with work or life experience, you may sit the STAT multiple choice if you:

  • are 19 years of age or over as of 1 January in the year in which you will start your studies and
  • have not been enrolled in secondary studies for at least two years and
  • have no prior secondary school (Year 12), VET studies, HE studies or relevant work experience that can be considered for entry, or these do not meet the minimum academic requirements for the program

STAT results are valid for two years prior to the commencement of study and can be used to meet Year 12 English prerequisites. You are still required to meet all other program prerequisites or equivalents.

Learning outcomes

In this program, you will have achieved outcomes in two broad areas (1) multi-disciplinary approaches to business innovation, and (2) the development of professional capabilities.

Program Learning Outcomes (Approaches to Business)

On completion of this program, you will have the knowledge to:

1. Identify and apply advanced theories, frameworks and principles within a range of business discipline contexts that support innovative global business outcomes. 2. Formulate innovative solutions to business problems that utilise technology and are fit for purpose. 3. Apply critical thinking to capitalise on emerging and high-impact trends in domestic and global business. 4. Critically analyse and evaluate the impact of business decisions on the environment, economy and society.

Program Learning Outcomes (Professional Capabilities)

On completion of this program, you will have the ability to:

5. Obtain, analyse and evaluate evidence and data and apply this in decision making across innovative business applications. 6.
