This program will give you the framework and foundation skills to work in the interactive media industry.

The program provides you with the broad base of skills necessary to develop a career within art, design, screen and media.

The program provides a creative and supportive environment of artistic and technical investigation, while maintaining active links with graduates and industry.

The areas you will study in the Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Interactive Media) include:Digital imaging and graphic design 2D and 3D animation design Motion design, compositing and visual effects Interactive, web and games design theory and practice Cinema language theory and practice Concept development and previsualisation Sound DesignOur graduates are multi-skilled and trained to develop both technical and conceptual skills, greatly increasing their employment prospects.

Whilst many work for traditional media production companies, others start successful freelance practices through industry networks created during their studies.

Graduates enter the industry at various levels, working in roles that utilise skills such as graphic design, 2D and 3D animation design, interactive, web and games design, media/project production, art direction and sound design.

Other graduates have built careers in teaching and research.

Entry requirements

You must have successfuly completed the Diploma of Digital Media Technologies.

International English language requirement

A minimum of IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 5.5, with no band less than 5.0, or equivalent. For equivalents to English entry requirements, see the English requirements web page.

Learning outcomes

This nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification delivers competency-based training and assessment, designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge (competency) needed to perform effectively in the work you are training for. Competency-based assessment allows you to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to complete workplace activities, safely and consistently, at the standard required in your job, in a range of situations and environments. This could involve showing an assessor how you plan and carry out tasks while explaining what you know about the task and the relevant work environment. It could also involve completing a project and reporting on the both the process and outcomes.

If you are working, your work supervisor may provide the assessor with a report on the skills and knowledge you have demonstrated.

If you have already developed areas of skill and knowledge included in this program (e.g. through prior paid or voluntary work experience), you can be assessed and have these skills and knowledge formally recognised. This process is called Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). There is information on the RMIT website about how to apply for RPL
