After completion of GD052, you will be able to work at a professional level in OHS.

Graduates of GD052 are employed in a wide range of industries, usually in national and international companies or as consultants.

GC035 is an exit point only from GD052;

you are encouraged to acquire further education in OHS if you wish to work as an OHS Professional.This program assists you to understand the OHS Body of Knowledge and be able to apply this in a range of organisational contexts.

RMIT focuses on the science and technology of risk mangement through assessment of hazards and development of specific control mechanisms.Specifically, the Body of Knowledge includes:the global concepts of health, safety and work, and the implications that these have in organisations the socio-political and organisational context in which work occurs and how this impacts work design and its effects on the workers the causes of fatalities, injuries and ill health arising from work recognition of hazards, assessment of their risk and development of suitable controlsYou will learn to apply these concepts in a range of contexts, allowing you to develop confidence and proficiency in your professional OHS practice.

Many of your assessments will incorporate Work Integrated Learning (WIL) by focusing on OHS issues in your work situation.

Entry requirements

This program is not available for direct entry. Entry to this program is through GD052 Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

Students in the GD052 program who wish to exit the Graduate Diploma before completion, may be eligible to take out the intermediate award of GC035 Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
