About
The program will introduce you to the concepts and skills required to undertake entry-level professional roles in a diverse range of media industries, including heritage media such as radio and television, and contemporary web-based media.As media industries are increasingly convergent, radio, television and web will be addressed in a holistic and integrated manner throughout the program.
You will emerge from the program with an understanding of how these formerly separate media fields now must be seen as one complex media landscape.
You will be able to work across these areas, and meaningfully contribute to teams designing innovative projects which respond to this landscape.The internet has made media production a global endeavour.
You will develop an understanding of the global arena of media production, and the possibilities this opens up for your own career.Media production occurs in teams, and you will develop an appreciation for the roles and skills required for successful media collaboration.On completion of the program you will be a professional practitioner with contemporary knowledge of the global media industry.
You will be able to discuss issues, and provide insights into the future directions of the industry.
You will be experienced in team-based production work.
You will have a clearer sense of your own career trajectory, based on a holistic and more developed knowledge of media production.You will gain skills in research and life-long learning strategies to enable you to confidently contribute to an industry that is always evolving.
You will gain insight into your own creativity, and develop efficient work practices to allow you to plan, produce and deliver your own media projects.

Entry requirements
The Graduate Diploma in Media (GD180) is available as an exit award only. Applicants must apply for the Master of Media (MC188).
