A Practical MBA informed by Technology and Design:
Empowering aspiring managers to lead change with innovation.The Master of Business Administration provides recent graduates or emerging managers with the opportunity to acquire contemporary business knowledge and skills necessary to take up leadership roles in an increasingly complex and uncertain world.
This program imbues knowledge and skills which will enable graduates to manage organisations and make decisions in an unpredictable business environment.The core curriculum includes design thinking, marketing, leadership, financial analytics, data analytics, managing technology and innovation, strategy, and business consulting.
In addition to the core courses in the program, you can select minor courses to form your own optional electives.
Three minors are available in the program:
design thinking, technology and innovation, and leadership.
You will be provided with various opportunities to employ business design thinking and analytical tools to provide innovative solutions to contemporary business problems.This program provides a range of learning experiences which will allow you to apply management theories and concepts across a range of contemporary organisational contexts.
You will be involved in a variety of learning activities, which include lectures, role plays and other experiential activities, including seminars, discussions, individual and team presentations, team activities, preparing business reports and preparing and presenting business consulting projects.This program emphasises practicalities and the development of skills to address real world issues in contemporary business settings.
The program offers a pathway to success in business for recent graduates with limited working experience, and emerging managers.
MBA graduates can expect careers within a wide cross section of industries and organisations, across private enterprise, management consulting, the public sector and the not for profit sector.The capstone course BUSM4163 Business Consulting will give you the opportunity to critically reflect on this program’s curriculum.
The course will promote the integration and synthesis of a range of knowledge and skills gained in the program and the application of these in discipline related real-world scenarios leading to work readiness.The core research course of this program is ECON1555 Business Data Analytics.
This course is designed to develop your knowledge of research principles and methods and how to apply them within the contemporary business environment.
You will have the opportunity to conduct a research project/proposal and further develop your skills in research methodology.This program is delivered on campus.Applicants who have successfully completed any undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in business or a related discipline and are admitted into the program will receive advanced standing equivalent to four courses.

Learning outcomes
The range of program learning outcomes addressed in the program improves graduate employability by responding to the expectations of employers.
In this program you will develop approaches to leadership and design-based strategies, and apply specialized knowledge from minors to create and address a range of organisational issues as a global manager.
On the successful completion of this program you will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate and reflect on contemporary issues, theories and practice within complex and uncertain business environments
2. Apply design thinking and analytics tools to develop innovative solutions to business problems
3. Develop leadership capacity and technology proficiency with an awareness of legal, ethical social, economic and environmental implications in an age of digital disruption
4. Demonstrate high level interpersonal skills, including collaboration, consulting, critical thinking and persuasive communication (oral and written), in a range of contexts
