About
Senior Data Science Analytics (DSA) Leaders are responsible for setting the strategy and delivering organisational value from data science, analytics and artificial intelligence teams and technology in business, government, and non-government organisations.Graduates of the Master’s program will have interdisciplinary technical and business skills and knowledge.They will learn to identify and translate organisation wide opportunities into solutions using data science teams and approaches.
The courses explore which questions to ask of the data, the executive leadership team and their own teams to inform strategy and decision making.
Importantly, graduates will learn how to lead, influence, collaborate, operationalise and optimise data science strategy by undertaking practical industry involved projects.
In the capstone course ISYS3419 Data Science Strategy Consulting Project, students will bring together all learning to understand organisational problems, what is possible with data from research and bleeding edge case studies, and use machine learning and artificial intelligence tools to define probable strategic solutions.
Graduates will also be equipped to use research informed approaches and to establish ethical data management practices and drive data change programs.Through the duration of this program you will participate in a variety of learning experiences which are designed to support you in developing the interdisciplinary technological and business skills required of contemporary DSA leaders.
In Stage B, graduates develop critical foundational programming, data wrangling, analytics and visualisation capacity.
Stage C courses provide the business acumen for graduates to lead data science teams to effectively partner and deliver analytical insight to other functions within organisations.
This knowledge is transferable across industries and relevant to a variety of organisational functions from finance, operations, marketing and technology teams.The stage D courses equip graduates with the advanced technical, strategy and leadership skills and research capacity required to influence executive leadership teams.
Graduates will integrate the knowledge and skills developed within the program and enhance your strategy and presentation skills, equipping you with the real-world skills to consult with key stakeholders and present solutions for implementationLearning and teaching approaches for this program may include webinars, problem-based learning and case studies.
Activities and tasks are designed to facilitate theory application and peer learning in a collaborative, open manner using online tools and interactive discussion forums.The program will prepare you to work as a Data Science Leader in the increasing number of organisations and businesses that need to effectively use data to reach strategic goals and objectives.The core research course of this program is ISYS3419 Data Science Strategy Consulting Project.
This course is designed to develop your knowledge of research principles and methods and how to apply them within the contemporary business environment.
You will have the opportunity to conduct a research project/proposal and further develop your skills in research methodology.This program is available for online study only.

Entry requirements
- An Australian Bachelor degree (AQF 7) or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution in Business OR
- An Australian Bachelor degree or equivalent in any non-business discipline with a minimum of 3 years Full Time Equivalent (FTE) work experience in an industry setting. Applicants will be required to submit a CV, OR
- Successful completion of the RMIT Graduate Certificate of Data Science AND with a minimum of 3 years Full Time Equivalent (FTE) work experience in an industry setting. Applicants will be required to submit a CV OR
- Australian Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Master’s degree or equivalent in Business (or a related discipline).
International qualifications are assessed according to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Entrance requirements for international onshore applicants.

Learning outcomes
In this program you will learn and apply the critical thinking, research, and communication skills required of senior DSA leaders in a variety of contemporary organisations. You will gain knowledge of the strategic, analytical, and technological influences on data teams and technology. You will develop the research, critical thinking and decision-making capabilities required to manage people, teams and technology to maximise the value of data sets and apply this through a variety of activity-based learning experiences.
