The units are similar to bachelor degree units, but classes are smaller and students have more one-on-one time with teachers.

Structure

The Diploma of Information Technology (UniLink) (8 months) provides a credit-bearing pathway into a selection of information technology related bachelor degrees. The topics covered seek to blend a range of key skills and knowledge required by current and projected industry needs.

UniLink is accredited as an award-level higher education diploma.

The Diploma of Information Technology (UniLink) (8 months) consists of a total of eight units (100 credit points) with 644 hours of study (Computer Technology stream) or 630 hours of study (Information Systems stream) within two 14 week teaching periods.

Units of study

To qualify for the award of the Diploma of Information Technology (UniLink) (8 months) students must successfully complete 100 credit points comprising seven core units and one elective unit.

Students select one unit from one of the following streams:

Computer and logic essentials (COS10023)

Management 2030 (ORG10001)Marketing principles and practices (MKT10008) Assessment may include a range of formal and informal tasks, including individual and group projects, assignments, presentations and examinations.

Entry requirements

Successful completion of:
  • the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification, including applications via the 2021 Early Entry Program – range of criteria with school recommendation.   • completion or partial completion of an approved tertiary qualification (including Certificates IV (completed), Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Associate Degrees and Degrees).

Learning outcomes

The Diploma of Information Technology (UniLink) (8 months) is designed as a high quality transitional education program that aims to prepare students for successful Higher Education studies. The program consists of eight units over two fourteen week teaching periods and is designed to provide students with a sound understanding of the basic IT principles to enable them to learn valuable Information Technology skills which can be used later in their life. Students will be exposed to subjects from each of the core Information Technology disciplines as well as communication for Information Technology.
