The Graduate Certificate of Digital Business Management invites students to take the next step in their IT, business and management careers.

You’ll learn about the approaches to managing technologies in existing businesses, plus study the skills required to innovate and apply new and emerging technologies at the forefront of digital business transformation.

On completion of the course, students will have the digital skills sought by information technology departments in both big businesses and start-ups.

Structure

The Graduate Certificate of Digital Business Management forms the first stage in a three-stage nested suite of programs consisting of:
  • Graduate Certificate of Digital Business Management (GC-DBM)
  • Graduate Diploma of Digital Business Management (GD-DBM) ^
  • Master of Digital Business Management (MA-DBM)

Students may consider master degree options including:

  • Master of Digital Business Management (Advanced) (MA-DBMADV)
  • Master of Digital Business Management (Professional) (MA-DBMPRO)
  • Master of Digital Business Management/Master of Business Administration (Executive) (MM-DBMBAEX)

^ Students are unable to enrol directly into the Graduate Diploma of Digital Business Management but it is available as an exit award.

This course is for working professionals. That’s why we offer it in Intensive Mode. It’s an efficient and faster way to complete a postgraduate qualification with minimal impact on your professional and personal life. Units (subjects) are either delivered after work hours or on Fridays or Saturdays, and run throughout the year in six week teaching periods instead of the usual 12 week semesters. This means you can complete more units and graduate faster, or take breaks when you need to.

To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate of Digital Business Management, students must complete 50 credit points comprising of four core units.Maximum Academic CreditThe maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Graduate Certificate of Digital Business Management is 25 credit points (normally two units)

Entry requirements

a minimum of five years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience*

reference to Faculty determined guiding principles. Applicants will be required to submit a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application. Documents substantiating relevant experience are required, clearly detailing roles and duration, as well as evidence of formal and non-formal learning. Where relevant experience is used for the basis of admission, no further recognition for prior learning/credit can be granted on that basis.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • demonstrate advanced and coherent knowledge of Digital Business Management as it applies to key areas of the digital economy including the strategic management of information and communication technologies (ICT), digital business initiatives, digital business opportunities and risks
  • critically research, evaluate and apply information systems management and digital business theories, frameworks and practices in a range of business, management and industry contexts in an independent manner
  • communicate information systems solutions that meet business needs in complex, digital and networked environments, manage stakeholder relationships, and support organisational change, in a proficient and professional manner
  • critically evaluate, justify and articulate appropriates response to current ethical, organisational and industry challenges for strategic information management in complex, digital and networked business environments.
