The Graduate Certificate of Project Management is designed to provide students with expertise in project management across a range of industries.

Students develop the knowledge, skills and conceptual understanding needed to apply project management principles to all aspects of project work.

Units cover project management in a range of practical contexts across the areas of entrepreneurship, management and leadership.

Students also develop problem-solving skills and learn how to establish and communicate innovative solutions to a range of audiences.

They become equipped to create and communicate professional project management plans that address complex business problems and support organisational change.

Structure

The Graduate Certificate of Project Management focuses on the fundamental principles of project management and their application in the real world. The course is for people looking to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding of project management across multiple sectors. It develops problem-solving skills and the ability to create and communicate professional project management plans that address complex business problems and support organisational change. The Graduate Certificate of Project Management can be a pathway to Masters degrees such as a Master of Project Management. Master of Project Management

To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate of Project Management students must complete 50 credit points comprising:

  • 4 core units

Units of study

Students must complete all 4 units as listed below: INF70005 Strategic Project Management PRM60002 Project Management for Innovative Outcomes PRM60003 The Risk Management Spectrum SCM60001 Operations Management

*Outcome units - matched exemptions are generally not granted for higher education outcome units.

Entry requirements

Applicants are required to have one of the following:
  • a bachelor degree (or higher award) in a related discipline from a recognised higher education institution or equivalent;
OR
  • a recognised bachelor degree (or higher award) in any discipline PLUS a minimum of two years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience*
OR
  • a minimum of three years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience*
*Relevant professional/managerial experience and evidence of academic capability will be determined by the Faculty PVC (or delegate) with reference to Faculty determined guiding principles. Applicants will be required to submit a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application. Documents substantiating relevant experience are required, clearly detailing roles and duration, as well as evidence of formal and non-formal learning. Where relevant experience is used for the basis of admission, no further recognition for prior learning/credit can be granted on that basis.

Learning outcomes

Upon successfully completing the Graduate Certificate of Project Management, graduates will be able to:

  • demonstrate coherent and advanced knowledge of key project management principles, standards and practice
  • critically evaluate project management theories, methodologies and frameworks in a range of business, management, entrepreneurial and industry contexts
  • critically analyse problems from interdisciplinary perspectives and multiple points of view to establish innovative solutions
  • communicate in a proficient and professional manner and operate as an effective leader or member of a team.
