The Master of Digital Business Management is designed to provide managers with the advanced knowledge and capabilities they require to lead digital innovation and transformation in their organisations.

You’ll learn to unpack and understand the potential available in digital business, including the strategic value of technology, the importance of digital business investment, new digital business models, data analytics, digital business risk and cyber security – giving you a broad foundation for understanding the future of work and business.

Structure

The Master of Digital Business Management is an advanced program of study that is designed to foster and develop the knowledge and capabilities of highly skilled managers who will work with information technology in management decision-making during their careers. Our graduates are leaders in digital business, technology and entrepreneurship who are setting the strategic direction of digital business enterprises, leading innovation and ICT management in existing businesses and industries and who are developing a new era of technology companies and applications. The degree combines the knowledge and theory of contemporary information systems management with an understanding of new and emerging digital technologies, new business models, and new ways of organising, analysing and communicating information. Students will learn about the methodologies and approaches that are applied in businesses to develop new IT enabled services, plan digital business initiatives for organisations, work with business intelligence technologies and have the opportunity to apply current methods for IT innovation development to real-world cases and projects. The Master of Digital Business Management forms the third stage in a four-stage nested suite of programs consisting of:
  • Graduate Certificate of Digital Business Management
  • Graduate Diploma of Digital Business Management (GD-DBM) ^
  • Master of Digital Business Management (MA-DBM)

Students may consider master degree options including:

  • Master of Digital Business Management (Advanced)
  • Master of Digital Business Management/ Master of Business Administration (Executive)

^ Students are unable to enrol directly into the Graduate Diploma of Digital Business Management but it is available as an exit award.This course is for working professionals. That’s why we offer it in Intensive Mode. It’s an efficient and faster way to complete a postgraduate qualification with minimal impact on your professional and personal life. Units (subjects) are either delivered after work hours or on Fridays or Saturdays, and run throughout the year in six week teaching periods instead of the usual 12 week semesters. This means you can complete more units and graduate faster, or take breaks when you need to.

To qualify for the award of Master of Digital Business Management, students must complete 12 units (150 credit points) comprising of:

  • 9 core units (112.5 credit points)
  • 3 Elective units (37.5 credit points)

A student may only take out one masters award from a nested suite that contains two levels of master.Maximum Academic CreditThe maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Master of Digital Business Management is 75 credit points (normally six units)

Entry requirements

  • a recognised bachelor degree in a related discipline PLUS a minimum of two years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience* or
  • a recognised bachelor degree in any discipline PLUS a minimum of three years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience* or
  • completion of the Postgraduate Qualifying Program PLUS a minimum of three years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience * (International applicants only)

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:

  • demonstrate advanced and coherent knowledge of Digital Business Management as it applies to key areas of the digital economy including the strategic management and governance of information and communication technologies (ICT), digital business initiatives, digital business opportunities and risks
  • critically research, evaluate and apply information systems management and digital business theories, frameworks and practices in a range of business, management and industry contexts in an independent manner
  • communicate information systems solutions that meet business needs in complex, digital and networked environments, manage stakeholder relationships, and support organisational change, in a proficient and professional manner
  • critically evaluate, justify and articulate appropriates response to current ethical, organisational and industry challenges for strategic information management in complex, digital and networked business environments
  • work in a self-reliant, independent manner, show leadership and take initiative where appropriate particularly in a diverse team environment
  • apply critical thinking to promote new and innovative approaches to information systems management, digital business development and the application of ICT in various social, business and entrepreneurial contexts
