The Master of Digital Business Management (Advanced) invites students to gain advanced knowledge, and conduct research, in both information technology and digital business management.
You’ll study the methodology and theory behind contemporary information systems and digital business to enhance the ways you approach IT services innovation and transformation in your career.
Students will graduate with specialist knowledge in the digital business field – holding advanced skills in business technology, management and research.
Structure
The Master of Digital Business Management (Advanced) is an advanced program of study that is designed to foster and develop the knowledge and capabilities of highly skilled managers who will work with information technology in management decision-making during their careers. Our graduates are leaders in digital business, technology and entrepreneurship who are setting the strategic direction of digital business enterprises, leading innovation and ICT management in existing businesses and industries and who are developing a new era of technology companies and applications. The degree combines the knowledge and theory of contemporary information systems management with an understanding of new and emerging digital technologies, new business models, and new ways of organising, analysing and communicating information. Students will learn about the methodologies and approaches that are applied in businesses to develop new IT-enabled services, plan digital business initiatives for organisations, work with business intelligence technologies and have the opportunity to apply current methods for IT innovation development to real-world cases and projects.
This postgraduate program provides a unique opportunity for students to gain specialised knowledge of information systems and digital business management through research. In the research component, students have the opportunity to apply and extend the knowledge gained throughout their studies by understanding and applying the research process. This option is intended for students who want to focus on a particular area of their career or consultancy, or as preparation for their PhD. The Master of Digital Business Management (Advanced) provides an advanced step in a three-stage nested suite of programs consisting of:- Graduate Certificate of Digital Business Management
- Graduate Diploma of Digital Business Management (GD-DBM) ^
- Master of Digital Business Management
Students may consider master degree options including:
- Master of Digital Business Management/ Master of Business Administration (Executive)
^ Students are unable to enrol directly into the Graduate Diploma of Digital Business Management but it is available as an exit award.
This course is for working professionals. That’s why we offer it in Intensive Mode. It’s an efficient and faster way to complete a postgraduate qualification with minimal impact on your professional and personal life. Units (subjects) are either delivered after work hours or on Fridays or Saturdays, and run throughout the year in six week teaching periods instead of the usual 12 week semesters. This means you can complete more units and graduate faster, or take breaks when you need to.
To qualify for the award of Master of Digital Business Management (Advanced), students must complete 200 credit points comprising of:
- 10 core units (125 credit points)
- 6 elective units (75 credit points)
OR
- 10 core units (125 credit points)
- 2 research options (37.5 credit points)
- 3 elective units (37.5 credit points)
A student may only take out one masters award from a nested suite that contains two levels of masters.Maximum Academic CreditThe maximum level of credit that can be granted for the Master of Digital Business Management (Advanced) is 100 credit points (normal eight units)

Entry requirements
- a recognised bachelor degree in a related discipline PLUS a minimum of two years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience* or
- a recognised bachelor degree in any discipline PLUS a minimum of three years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience* or
- completion of the Postgraduate Qualifying Program PLUS a minimum of three years equivalent full-time relevant professional experience * (International applicants only)
* Relevant professional/managerial experience and evidence of academic capability will be determined by the Faculty PVC (or delegate) with reference to Faculty determined guiding principles. Applicants will be required to submit a curriculum vitae (CV) with their application. Documents substantiating relevant experience are required, clearly detailing roles and duration, as well as evidence of formal and non-formal learning. Where relevant experience is used for the basis of admission, no further recognition for prior learning/credit can be granted on that basis.
Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- demonstrate advanced and coherent knowledge of digital business management as it applies to key areas of the digital economy including the strategic management and governance of information and communication technologies (ICT), digital business initiatives, digital business opportunities and risks
- critically research, evaluate and apply information systems management and digital business theories, frameworks and practices in a range of business, management and industry contexts in an independent manner
- communicate information systems solutions that meet business needs in complex, digital and networked environments, manage stakeholder relationships, and support organisational change, in a proficient and professional manner
- critically evaluate, justify and articulate appropriates response to current ethical, organisational and industry challenges for strategic information management in complex, digital and networked business environments
- work in a self-reliant, independent manner, show leadership and take initiative where appropriate particularly in a diverse team environment
- apply critical thinking to promote new and innovative approaches to information systems management, digital business development and the application of ICT in various social, business and entrepreneurial contexts
- apply knowledge of research principles and methods to plan and execute a piece of research with some independence.
